Use your own fonts

When to use this

Use this page to change the typefaces your proposals speak in: pick a face from BloomBoard’s built-in library, or upload your studio’s own fonts. Set the document’s heading or body face, or give one piece of text on your own pages a special treatment, like your studio name in your signature script.

What you need first

  • A proposal open in the design studio (from the event, choose Design).
  • Your font files: OTF, TTF, WOFF, or WOFF2. If your font came with separate files for bold or italic, keep them handy so those styles print true.
  • The license to use the fonts. Upload only fonts your studio has the rights to.

The font library

Every font picker in the studio has two tabs. Library is BloomBoard’s built-in collection — display serifs, text serifs, sans faces, and scripts, each shown in its own face and ready to use on any document, nothing to upload or license. Your fonts holds the fonts your studio has uploaded. Use the search box to jump straight to a name.

Upload your fonts

Open Fonts

In the studio’s left rail, choose Fonts. The upload area lives under the Your fonts tab.

Confirm your license

Tick I have the license to use these fonts. The upload area stays off until you do.

Drop the whole family in

Choose Upload fonts and pick every file the foundry gave you at once, or drag them onto the upload area. BloomBoard reads each file and sorts the styles into one font family for you. Regular, bold, and italic files of the same font become one entry with its styles listed underneath.

Check the confirmation

The confirmation names what arrived. If a bold or italic file is missing, you will see a note suggesting you add it. You can still use the font without it; bold and italic text will be approximated, which can look different in print.

Fonts you upload belong to your whole studio. They appear in every document you design, and any teammate can use them.

Set your document’s faces

In the Fonts section, the three rows show what this document uses for Display, Headings, and Body. Tap a row, then pick a face from the Library or Your fonts tab, and the document repaints in place. Tap Reset on a row to return to the template’s own face.

Changes apply to the document in front of you, exactly like colours. Save a preset to reuse the look on any event. Switching to a different template starts fresh with that template’s own fonts and colours.

Style one text box on your own pages

On your own pages, select a text box and open its editor. The font button in the toolbar shows the current font. Choose it to open the fonts panel:

  • Template fonts switches the box between the template’s Display, Heading, and Body faces.
  • The Library and Your fonts tabs apply a font to this text box only. The rest of the document does not change.

This is the place for a once-off treatment, like your studio name in a script face on a welcome page.

Managing your fonts

Under Your fonts, each font’s menu offers Add styles (bring in a missing bold or italic file), Rename, and Remove. Removing a font takes it out of your list; text that used it shows the template’s face instead, and the Checks panel points out where. Uploading the same font again brings it back. Library fonts have nothing to manage — they are part of BloomBoard and always available.

What your clients see

Your fonts travel with the document everywhere it goes: the page your client opens, and the PDF. Once a proposal is sent, its fonts are frozen with it; changing or removing a font later never alters a sent document.

A few fonts have licenses that do not allow embedding in PDFs. BloomBoard tells you at upload, and the Checks panel will stop a send until you choose a different font for print.
