Why is my subscription blocking access?

Start with the current subscription state

Access changes depending on where the subscription stands. The first step is to confirm which state the account is in, on the Plan & billing page in Settings.

Common patterns

  • No subscription: the account has not completed subscription setup yet, so it is directed to choose a plan.
  • Payment failed: a payment did not go through and the account is in its grace period. You will see a Payment Failed banner with time remaining.
  • Canceled: the subscription was cancelled. Access continues to the end of the paid period, then stops.
  • Expired: access has ended and the subscription needs to be restarted.

What to do next

  1. Check whether the account still has grace-period access, and how long is left.
  2. Update the payment method or restart the subscription from Plan & billing.
  3. Sign in again if the app needs to refresh access after the billing change.

Billing access issues can look like login issues, but they are not always the same problem. Check the subscription state before retrying sign-in repeatedly.
