Venue addresses and weather

When to use this

Use this page when venue details or weather conditions could change how you plan, price, or protect the floral work.

Address lookup

BloomBoard can use venue address lookup to speed up structured venue entry and capture coordinates along with the address details.

That helps with:

  • cleaner venue records
  • fewer manual address errors
  • weather lookups tied to the actual location

Results near you come first

Address lookup starts in your business country and favors places near your business address. Both come from Business → Business details: set Country, and fill in City or Postal code so an ambiguous search like “the grand” lists the venue down the road before namesakes in other cities. If you have not added an address yet, the event setup picker leans on where your saved venues are instead. With neither, BloomBoard starts from the region of your account currency where that is clear-cut: rand for southern Africa, pounds for the UK, euros for Europe, and Australian or Canadian dollars for those countries. US dollars are not used as a guide, so if you are in the US, set your country.

Planning a destination wedding? Type the venue’s full name and it still appears, wherever it is. If the name is shared by places near you, add the town, or enter the venue manually.

Weather insights

Weather support is meant to translate forecast data into florist-relevant planning signals such as:

  • heat stress risk
  • rain exposure
  • wind concerns for taller pieces
  • humidity or cold conditions that can affect product handling

Weather units and dates

Weather shows in your studio’s style. You choose it once, in Units and dates on Business → Business details.

  • US: °F, mph and inches. Dates read “Oct 5” and times read “3:00 PM”.
  • Metric: °C, km/h and mm. Dates read “5 Oct” and times read “15:00”.

The style applies to all weather in BloomBoard:

  • the weather card and the full forecast on the Week-of page
  • the weather on the team link
  • the weather in the phone app
  • the weather line in the Week-of pack of an export
  • the assistant’s answers about the weather

The same setting also sets every date and time in BloomBoard. See Dates and times everywhere below.

Everyone who opens your team link sees your studio’s style, wherever they are and whatever their browser uses.

Weather warnings use the same limits in both styles. Only the number you see changes. For example, a high heat warning starts at 30°C, and in the US style it reads “High heat expected (86°F)”.

“Today” for the weather is your studio’s today, in the Timezone set in Business details. An event that is tomorrow for you never shows as past, even late in the evening.

Change the units

Only owners and admins can change this setting. Staff can see it, but cannot change it.

  1. Go to Business → Business details.
  2. Under Business information, open Units and dates.
  3. Choose Automatic, US or Metric. The example line under the field shows how weather and dates will look.
  4. Click Save Changes.

How Automatic picks a style

Every studio starts on Automatic. The option names the style it picks for you: Automatic (US) or Automatic (Metric). Automatic checks these in order and uses the first one it finds:

  1. The Country in Business details. The United States gives US. Any other country gives Metric.
  2. If no country is set, the country you signed up from.
  3. If neither is known, the currency. US dollars give US.
  4. Otherwise, Metric.

Automatic follows your details as they change. If you set your Country and save, the label and the weather follow straight away. To keep one style whatever your details say, choose US or Metric.

The same location also sets the paper size for new proposals and the name of your tax. See Find your way around Business and Settings.

Dates and times everywhere

Units and dates sets how every date and time reads, for you and for your clients:

ShowsUSMetric
Short dateOct 5, 20265 Oct 2026
Day and dateMon, Oct 5Mon 5 Oct
Time3:00 PM15:00
First day of the weekSundayMonday

The style applies to:

  • the dashboard, including the Events calendar and every date picker
  • the phone app
  • the emails BloomBoard sends to your clients and to you
  • your documents: proposals, invoices, order sheets, recipe sheets and terms

Things to know:

  • A date is the same day for everyone. A client or teammate in another timezone sees the event on the same day as you.
  • A sent proposal keeps the style it was sent in. If you change the setting later, the copy your client already has does not change.
  • If you used Metric before this change, some dates that read month-first, such as “Oct 5”, now read day-first, such as “5 Oct”. This is expected.

Why coordinates matter

Weather guidance depends on having usable location data. If the venue is only partially entered, the forecast context may be incomplete.

Weather is a planning aid, not a promise. Use it to prepare for likely conditions and protect the work, especially for outdoor events.
